So. I suppose we can only do our best.

Knowing you are probably not going

to return

shall I put my attention elsewhere?

Shall I let you go?

An eagle circled over the farm today

so close I could see it's sharp face

These miracles happen

Why not wait for one more

Perhaps in a dream

half-remembered

I see shadows passing

outside the bedroom window

Do they move toward me?

if only I can see my way

Let's meet in the barn at midnight

in Lucky's stall

Feel cold wind on my cheeks

in spaces where walls have fallen

to neglect

the beauty of disrepair

I will

breathe you in

as you ride joyously, a child

unaware that you are seen

Not even imagining me there
