The Hermitage has seen eighteen wintery days since you
left us and
lo and behold...
Your new chair, delivered today
the much maligned Lazy Boy.
Let it heretoforth be described as BIG.
You would have seen the humor,
sitting erect in it,
legs dangling.
"Seems well-made."
"Sturdy."
"Kinda big, isn't it?"
I would have laughed at myself
and at the sight of you
and you would have said
"I like it, Margie Sue.'
Later in the day, fiddling with the release lever,
my feet pop up to greet me.
"Stay here," the chair says quietly in its' big puffy, lumbering way
"Take a load off.
Come out of the bedroom. Soon it will be
time for waking. Spring will find you
soon enough."
