Dear One,

how sadly the last days fell

one-by-one

like petals lighting atop shimmering lakes of Mercury

with suspended breath.

hoping the center would hold.

Tonight the glories of sunset

played out

so much flotsam and jetsam

left behind us

by the fabulous reaper's cold winds

Oh my love, what a spin we put on things

we who are a different breed, looking at things

square in the face

the damaged ones

unremarkable, with lousy eyesight

seeing beauty everywhere

Now that you are gone

how can

we learn

to love

what we cannot see
